RE: pots and pans

We have a "nesting cookwear" set from camping world. DW likes it very much. Handles come off, they all store inside each other. Seem to be solid. Has metal lids along with plastic snap on lids for storing leftovers.
Like everything else now a days, it was made in China.
Too bad we have sent all of our jobs elsewhere.

RE: BEWARE !! CAMPING WORLD ADS

$65.00 for shop towels??? Did they charge you for the soap that the mechanics use to wash their hands too? What about a charge for the form they used to write up the work order. Is that a slot for quarters next to the front door?
Everyone is jumping on the "charge for everything" bandwagon. Even my dentist is charging a fee for "infection control." Which I guess they would say is for their gloves and mask. Just an addition to their bottom line.
Next thing they will charge us for a seat to sit in while they do the work.
Guess this is why so many people are learning to be self-sufficient.

RE: What's the deal with parking lights on in the campground?

Now I have a disco ball will have to start taking it with me, but where can a guy get some of those dancing flamingos???
DW never would let me get any of those plastic ones for the yard. And that was why I moved to Florida.:R

RE: What's the deal with parking lights on in the campground?

I really have no idea.
I don't know if it is a Canadian thing or not, but in my MH, all it means is that one of the little kids got up there and turned them on and no one has noticed. Our 18 month old and 2.5 year old foster sons, for some reason want to climb into the front seat whenever I am not there. I always have to check everything before starting to see what all they have turned on. They even will put on sunglasses and act like they are driving. I am lucky that they haven't yet figured out how to blow the horn.
My MH doesn't buzz like the car does when you leave the lights on.

RE: Bed tax on my bed?

Gee, twenty something replys.
Oh well, we will pay the tax and continue going. I remember years ago when I lived in Georgia. Gov. Miller then vowed not to raise any taxes. Then the "state fees" went through the roof.
Thanks everyone, really woke up a dreary afternoon.

Bed tax on my bed?

Gee, recently while traveling home we decided to phone one of the Florida State Parks and stop instead of continuing on and arriving home in the middle of the night. They were very accommodating and reserved a spot for us as we arrived after closing. The next morning, I went to check out and all was well.
After paying with my debit card, I got a receipt and there was a bed tax listed. Now it was only $0.48 cents for the one night, but gee, that was my bed that they are taxing and I thought I had already paid tax on it when I purchased it.
I have always used RA for reserving and paying for sites in the FL State Parks. Never had I noticed any bed tax. I wonder if I can somehow deduct that from my income taxes? :@
Yes, it's a slow day in the office with the storm here. So far, tons of rain and windy. Ugly day....
Everybody be safe!

RE: Flying J Changing Loyalty Program Again?

I guess the real culprit is that they saw their RV business drop after changing the program. While I use J, I rarely go shopping or eating there, so it was not any real benefit for me after they linked to inside dollars spent.
I think it may have been a combination of them changing their program at the same time that prices shot up. Demand must have fallen like a rock.
Today at the local J, I topped off the tank and went to dump. The dump had a lock on it and I had to go inside and sign a log book and get the key. My guess is that someone has dumped something that they shouldn't have. What a shame.

RE: Best way to park MH during hurricane?

90MPH? Don't park it! Get out of town!
When we got our MH it became our first plan of escape. So far only about 40-45mph winds are expected here in our part of the state.
I keep it full and ready to roll during hurricane season, but once winds get over 50, you are stuck where you are to be safe.
Good luck.
Pray hard!!!!!

RE: Financing a Class A

Shop around all the suggestions above. Then take your best rate into the dealer and see if they can beat it. If they want to, they can buy it down and get you a better rate.

RE: Entry Level Models?

We have a Coachmen, it is our very first RV and we love it. Yes it is an entry level and we are also entry level RV'ers.
Factory response to any questions have been great. Had a couple of minor things since delivery and the dealer took care of them right away. They were almost too small to take back to the dealer, but I decided to let them take care of them seeing that the dealer is local. I have often wondered what type of service people who purchase out of state get when they go to local dealers.
We use it at least once a month and the whole family always looks forward to going and doing in the motor home.
I think we looked at all the manufactures that you wrote about but ended up with the best $ deal all the way around on the Mirada.
Good luck, keep us posted as to your choice.

RE: I'm back! Now what questions to ask????

We first searched for one that fit us as a family. Also, I am just over 6' and I got in every shower of every MH we looked at. DW wanted to make sure there was enough pantry space.
Once we narrowed down the list to about 3, we then went back and spent time in them. I'll bet that we spent 8-12 hours in the one we got before we made an offer. We were looking at new and are planning to keep it for a good while.
When we got down to the 3, then I started asking my 1000 questions. Now that I look back, many were really dumb. But this was our first RV and I was soaking up everything I could. I read everything I could get my hands on and once we decided which one we wanted to make an offer on, we low balled and worked from there.
I think questions to always ask if buying a pre-owned: I would review all service records making sure the numbers match. I myself track almost everything, each trip, each stop, each fuel stop, each service, each oil change, each grease job, each LP fill up, and so on. DW thinks I do too much, but I have always done this type of thing with all of my autos so why change with the motor home. These logs have always seemed to impress people when it has been time to sell my autos, one day it may do the same with the motor home. Just don't be afraid to ask, remember the old saying about dumb questions....
Good luck, enjoy the process it will really be worth it in the end. Please post back and let us know when and what you end up getting. Hope some of my rambling is helpful. Nothing on TV tonight.:B

RE: lots of RV's on the road

Last month we went to Tennessee for a few weeks. We experienced many folks still traveling. At the overnight stops close to the interstates the campgrounds seemed all to be at about 85-90% full. However, at state parks where we stopped which were a bit off the interstates, it was only around 30%. Most of our travels were during the week, I don't know if that accounts for anything.
I continue to see many Rv's out on the Florida Turnpike every day.
I have not yet seen a post stating, now that gas prices are coming down, are you speeding up???:)
KEEP CAMPING!

RE: Interior night lights

We have an interior light (12v) on the wall between the dinette and the sofa. It has a glass globe that is sort of like a bowl, open on the top.
I put a LED bulb in it and then I have a piece of foil that I set on it. It makes the perfect night light for the kids. Everyone sleeps yet I can see to check on them.
As for the night lights that run off of AC power, I have changed all the bulbs there to LED's they are nice. I even got some blue and green LED bulbs for the kid's rooms. WalMart a couple of bucks for two.

Adding a camera inside?

On my monitor for the back up camera, there is a button for a camera #2.
We always travel with at least three kids, I was thinking it might be nice to have a camera mounted inside looking back from the front, where I could switch over and see what was going on behind me. Keep an eye on the kids when the DW is not in her seat.
Has anyone ever done this and could anyone suggest a web site and or type of camera I could use? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

RE: Al's Motorhomes in Ft. Pierce FL closes

I was just by there the other day and WOW, nothing. Empty lot and building. Wonder how they got them all out so fast.
We did shop there while looking for our motor home last summer. Had a very nice salesman and they were on our short list of 2, until I visited the lot on a day that the salesman we were working with was off for the day. We were treated so rudely that I told the guy I would take my money elsewhere. And I did! I could not believe that anyone would treat a customer like that.
While I really liked the original salesman that we worked with, the other guy so turned me off that I would have never spent a penny there. Maybe the bad guy was the sales manager and that is part of what happened. Ha.....
I think that the good salesman that we liked was Vern. Hey Vern, if you are reading this, send me a PM. I'll put you to work with my company. We are always looking for good people.
Anyway, it is sad to see a business fail, but when you don't pay Gov. Charlie, he will come and take it away. Hope all the good people who were there can find work. And good luck even to the bad one too!
Let's all try to support the little guy in business locally in your town.

RE: campground on norris lake north of knoxville?

While I have not camped up on Norris Lake since I was a child with my Uncle on his houseboat. I did find the link below for TVA campgrounds.
Norris is a deep lake, have seen some mammoth cat fish taken out of there. They would lay in the back of a pickup truck with their tails curled around.
You may check out the following link:

After your trip, please post and let us know what you found and how it was.

Hairline crack in front cap ?

Hi all,
This evening while out washing the RV, I noticed a few hairline cracks in the fiberglass front cap. A couple are on the side right where the cap meets the side, the other is over on the front corner/curve/edge, away from anything.
Has anyone else experienced these cracks?
I have an appointment next week to drop it off at the dealer for a few minor warranty repairs (still in warranty.) So I plan to see what they say.
I hope that someone can give me a heads up if this is a big problem coming on or just nothing and normal.
Thanks for your help.

RE: Well this will be my last post for a long time

Glad you and your family are safe. Count your blessings!
Sorry to hear about the loss of your motor home. If you are like many here, they are like a family member. Heck, I wash the motor home more than I wash the dogs. I guess it just ranks up there a bit higher than them.:)
We are foster parents and the state makes us have the type of extinguisher in the house that has a hose and is larger than the one that came on our motor home. After reading your post, I have added the larger one from the house to our check list of items to take when traveling.
Thanks for your post. Do keep us informed of how things progress with your insurance. These forums are such a great learning institute for everyone.
